Secure Access to Removable Drives (Windows NT/2000/XP)

This setting determines whether the ability to access removable drives is available to other users.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called "AllocateDASD" and set it according to the table below.

  • 0 - Administrators only
  • 1 - Administrators and power users
  • 2 - Administrators and the interactive user
Restart Windows for the change to take effect.
